One of the most challenging things for me is not having an unkind response (in anyway at all), to someone who is blatantly unkind to me. (Holding my tongue has become easier with age, but guarding my thoughts to not think unkindly takes constant awareness, work & prayer.)

I'm working at being patient and charitable with people, especially the younger generation that is SO indoctrinated in the culture, who don't understand my pro-life (not anti-woman), pro-marriage (not anti-gay), pro-chastity (not anti-fun)opinions. May God have mercy on us all!

Dear Kathleen, You have hit on a common challenge to many of us. How do we convey our faith (that actually promotes freedom to the greatest degree)? Living our faith actually brings about the gratest freedom because it encourages choices that helps one to grow without resulting in the possible development of impediments within our psyche that can scar us and result baggage (like residual guilt) for decades due to things like the taking of life from a person inside the womb, or entering into a relationship based on the sexualizing of feelings rather than the strengthening of character which can come when we sublimate that physical energy (which is byfar meant for procreating). Channeling that energy, into good works, and emotional maturing, and spiritual growth, is something much of our culture knows little of. We are indeed living in an ego-centric culture that is largely concerned with self-gratification regardless of the price.

In our culture of convenience and instant/constant gratification, it's easy to forget that at any nanosecond, we could be face to face with Jesus - having to account for how our lives compare with the instructions we have been left by the Gospels, and it's hard to keep focused on the fact that we have been placed here to live for God, not for ourselves. The thought of how we could possibly account for all of our blessings and graces and what we have done (or not) with them for the glory of God needs to remain in our hearts constantly, and our prayers need to continue to beg Him for assistance in undertaking our mission and in being strengthened by our sufferings.

Dear Cabrini Inspired, Your sharing expresses the constant challenge of remembering our mortality and that at any time our physical lives can end. And we all must account. Death is the great equalizer. How we treat others matters a great deal. Do we use our gifts for our own comfort and gratification, or for the sharing of the love that the Gospel teaches. Love bears fruit, whereas hate poisons. May we be light bearers -- the Light of the Spirit that Advocates for us, not the bearer of darkness -- the darkness of the accusser. We have our challenges for sure. Let us pray for each other, and advocate for one another. And when our time comes, may we be at peace, that we have run a good race.
